Greetings & Thoughts
A well-filled week and new directions

This week abruptly filled up.  Below, look for details on meetings that will touch upon downtown bicycle racks, the proposed downtown hotel, possible east-side bicycle improvements, annual goals for transit, and fifteen-minute neighborhoods.  For those who want to stay well-informed, there will be a surfeit of opportunities.

Urban Chat has also been busy, looking at more ways to improve our community and to bring more people into the effort.  As further explained on our Committees page, three new groups are on their way to joining Know Before You Grow as Urban Chat committees.

The focuses of the new committees will be an urbanism film fest in late summer or early fall, a push toward facilitating fifteen-minute neighborhoods as the General Plan proceeds and updates to the zoning code are begun, and encouragement for more and better maintained public restrooms as a necessity for a less car-dependent community.

This is a great time to be a part of Urban Chat.  If you want to play a role, reach out to me or to any of the committee contacts listed.

Dave Alden

Dave Alden was the blogger whose scribblings led to the first Urban Chat meeting. Since that time, he has served as the de facto executive director, spearheading several Urban Chat initiatives while also working to bring in enough other people that Urban Chat will live on when he steps away into an urban retirement of downtown living, sidewalk dining, walking, and transit.
